Lisbon Village UndergroundJust a few months ago Lisbon got itself a special spot for coworking, a completely new intake on work environment that has been running so well in London since 2007: Village Underground (VU), an international platform for culture and creativity.

As you can tell by its name, the space is an underground village where 14 shipping containers are redesigned as workspaces and public-decker buses are used as a cafeteria and a meeting room. Yes, it is exactly as awesome as it sounds!

Each container has a room with five tables specifically designed for professionals from the creative industries, and can be rented by the month, day or hour. It is also opened to coworkers who are just passing through Lisbon and need to work a few hours or a few days in an inspiring environment.

The Village Underground is not just coworking, it also serves as a space for different types of events: concerts, exhibitions, plays, conferences, workshops … Some of these activities are co-produced in collaboration with the VU London, which serves as a promotional platform for artists and professionals from both areas.

VU‘s philosophy is not only to transform the objects that are no longer used, but also to rebuild and regenerate degraded areas of the city where they are installed. This way, they contribute to new communities (and, why not, new neighborhoods) in areas that are totally abandoned or uninhabited.

Workspaces also offer a low cost to business projects or social and artistic projects that have no place in other cultural spaces. The environment is another aspect that is taken extremely seriously at VU, as they make an effort to maximize the use of renewable energy sources.

If you are curious and want to know more about this town / village / coworking space, you can visit their website or follow them on Facebook. They will not leave you indifferent.

And if you happen to be in Lisbon on November 25 or expressly come to the Coworking Europe Conference, you’re in luck because that day we host the Coworking Europe Party alongside with space Coworklisboa (another well recognized member of the Coworking club ) at the VU. You can sign up here for the event, admission is free and we promise you are going to love it!
